Moving Forward, Next Steps

I got laid off. Now the fun begins.

After a week of being mostly offline, I’m not figuring out my life. I was laid off from my role(s) at GameSpot/Fandom nearly two weeks ago. Like many in my chosen industry, I’m looking for a new place to ply my trade. However, I’m also choosing to work on myself.

I’m using this time or looking for work to also reengage with my creative side and see what I can do in terms of growing myself as a destination for writing, podcasting, videos, etc. With that comes some very important changes that I think should be pretty cool.

Big Kid

First of all, Big Kid will be returning. This is still in the planning stages but it’s going to be happening and it’s going to be pretty cool, I think. Stay tuned for details on this and any other podcasts I’m potentially working on.

Twitch

I’m going to try something new. It may work, it may not. But I want to give it a shot to see if it’s something I want to do on a regular basis. A few times a week, beginning this Wednesday at 10 AM ET, I’ll be streaming in the mornings for a little while. We can have a cup of coffee, play some games, and hang out.

The Brandon Pizazz

Something I haven’t spoken about as much is the beginnings of a local blog I’ve put together for my suburb in Tampa. I worked with Niki on this and now that I have time, the plans are big. Check out the Brandon Pizazz!

Obviously with the loss of a job comes the loss of income. Thankfully, I was given a severance payment. Unfortunately, it’s never enough to keep you afloat very long and there are very real expenses in the world at every turn. With that in mind, I’m launching a Patreon.

There are a few tiers on the Patreon, all relatively low in cost. Basically, you’ll get access to everything early. Podcasts, writing, videos, etc. There is also a Haynerland Discord for us to hang out, chat, watch stuff, play video games, etc. And the power to pick what we play on Good (Game) Morning is up for grabs.

Basically, I want to take the next however long we can make this work to have some fun with like-minded folks. And yes, there’s a free tier that’ll keep you updated on all things!

In short

I don’t know how the next year is going to shake out. But I’m excited to try new things and find a place where I feel welcome and want to spend some time. I hope you’ll come along with me on that journey.
